Eden skipped down the winding street, leaving the stinking bar far behind with the werewolf still trapped inside. I'll be more than far enough away from him by the time he can move, she thought smugly. Too bad the fun had to end so quickly though... Oh well, she smiled again. She would have to go back later anyway. Those vampires the wolf had ripped apart weren't quite dead yet. They could still regenerate, although it would take them awhile. She would have to burn them before they were really dead. No survivors to tell on me. Oh and wait till the others find out about this. She squirmed with delight at the thought. Yes, she could definitely use this to her advantage. A little tug here and a little prod there. Puppets on strings. She looked up at the bright shining moon and laughed.
Eden's thoughts moved to the burning in her throat. Time to feed, she thought, time to spill some more blood tonight. She ran then, becoming nothing but a flitting shadow, and made her way out of the city. She ran for miles, out to the rural countryside, until she came upon a small farmhouse. She could smell them. The people sleeping inside, unaware of the coming horror. She saw a single open window on the second floor and agilely scampered up a neighboring tree. Like a snake she coiled and sprang onto the window ledge, landing silently. She slipped inside and surveyed the room. Lying peacefully in their bed, a man and woman of middle age slept. She made quick work of them. Distracted by the blood of her first victim, the man, she didn't quite reach the woman in time to prevent her from letting out a blood-curdling scream. However she was soon silenced.
Eden drained them both quickly, feeling her thirst fade away.
Suddenly she heard footsteps in the landing outside. The door opened and Eden lunged without thinking fangs glinting and arms outstretched. She knocked the figure to the ground and prepared to snap his neck but froze. It was a small boy about the age of 11 with tousled brown hair and eyes wide with fright. He looked like him. Like Christoper. Grief rendering her speechless she fled, leaving the young boy behind in the dark, bloody house. She remembered sitting with her brother in bed reading him story after story. Laughing together at an inside joke. Holding his hand as they wandered the city, watching the people in fancy clothing walk by. She clutched her head, the pain was so intense. Forcing the memories away she began to run, as though she could escape her memories through physical distance.
She ran back to the city enraged now at herself for letting the boy live, for letting him have so much power over her. He was insignificant. She shouldn't care what he looked like, she shouldn't care about Christopher. Eden needed to do something, needed to act. She wanted to kill and make others suffer just so she could watch and laugh. Back to Haven's, she thought, time for more fun.
